Pika

Pika is a generative AI creative platform developed by Mellis, Inc. It provides tools for creating and editing video, images, audio, and other creative content from text prompts and reference media. The platform is designed for creators, marketers, filmmakers, editors, and other creative professionals who want to generate or transform media without relying entirely on traditional production workflows.

Pika has expanded beyond AI video generation into a broader creative workspace. Its current platform includes dedicated video, image, and audio tools, with access to both Pika’s own models and selected third-party generative models. Users can create videos, generate images, edit visual content, create characters, produce product shots, generate speech, and create music and sound effects.

For video creation, Pika provides tools such as Video Studio, Pika 2.5, Pikaframes, video extension, and other creative applications. Video Studio can generate anything from short clips to multi-shot videos of up to three minutes. The platform also supports extending existing footage by generating additional frames, making it possible to lengthen clips without conventional frame-by-frame editing.

Pika also includes image-generation and image-editing capabilities. Image Studio is designed for generating imagery with creative control, while Edit Image can swap, remove, or restyle elements in an image. Character Studio allows users to create reusable characters that can appear repeatedly across different creations. Product Shot is aimed at creating styled product images without requiring a traditional product photoshoot.

Audio has become another major part of the platform. Pika provides speech, music, soundtrack, and sound-effect tools. Pika Soundtrack can create synchronized soundscapes containing music, ambience, voice, and sound effects that correspond to activity in a video. Pika Music can generate tracks from creative direction, lyrics, reference voices, existing tracks, or combinations of these inputs, while Pika SFX generates sound effects from written descriptions.

The platform also provides access to models from other providers. Its current model selection includes Pika 2.5, Seedance 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine, Gemini/Google models, Nano Banana, MiniMax, and other models. This multi-model approach allows users to work with different generation technologies from a single creative platform.

Pika also offers developer access through its API. Its developer platform provides access to generative media models through an API, while its Enterprise API is designed for organizations requiring larger-scale access. This makes Pika relevant not only to individual creators but also to businesses and developers incorporating generative media into applications and production workflows.

Pricing

Pika currently has Free, Starter, Creator, Fancy, and Enterprise options. The Free plan costs $0 and provides access to all models through credit packs, with no watermark on generated content but without a commercial license. Starter costs $10 per month, or $8 per month when billed annually, and provides 900 credits per month. Creator costs $35 per month, or $28 per month annually, and includes 3,150 credits per month and a commercial license. Fancy starts at $95 per month, or $76 per month annually, and provides 8,550 credits or more depending on the selected tier.

Pika also offers Enterprise plans for studios and teams. Enterprise pricing is customized and includes features such as unlimited parallel generations, commercial licensing, early access to new models, and dedicated support.

Additional credit packs are available for users who need more generation capacity. Pika’s current pricing page lists one-time credit purchases ranging from 1,500 credits for $25 to 66,000 credits for $1,000. Purchased top-up credits remain available until they are used, while subscription credits refresh each billing period and do not roll over.

Review

Pika has developed into a broad generative media platform rather than focusing exclusively on text-to-video generation. Its combination of video, image, audio, editing, character, and product-creation tools gives creators multiple ways to develop content within one service.

One of Pika’s notable strengths is the range of creative applications available directly within the platform. Video Studio handles video creation, Extend Video adds generated frames to existing footage, Color Grade modifies the appearance of photos and clips, and Edit Image provides tools for replacing, removing, and restyling image elements. This variety makes Pika useful across different stages of creative production.

The addition of audio tools further broadens its capabilities. Pika Soundtrack can generate synchronized audio for video, while Pika Music and Pika SFX address music and sound-effect creation. Pika Speech also provides voice-generation functionality. This means users can produce several components of a multimedia project without necessarily relying on separate services for every stage.

Another important feature is its multi-model approach. Pika provides access to several first-party and third-party models, including models from Google, OpenAI, Kling, Seedance, Grok, and other providers. This gives creators the ability to select different models according to the type of image, video, or audio content they want to produce.

The platform is also suitable for professional creative work. Its website specifically highlights ad creatives, editors, marketers, and filmmakers as users, while features such as commercial licensing, enterprise plans, API access, and dedicated support extend its usefulness to businesses and production teams.

The main limitation is the credit-based system. Different models and generation settings consume different amounts of credits, meaning users creating a large amount of high-resolution or computationally intensive media can use their monthly allocation quickly. Pika’s pricing documentation shows that generation costs vary according to the model, resolution, duration, and generation type.

Commercial licensing is also dependent on the selected plan. Free and Starter users do not receive the commercial license, while Creator and higher plans do. Businesses therefore need to select an appropriate plan when generated content is intended for commercial projects.

Pika’s current combination of video, image, audio, editing, and API capabilities makes it suitable for creators who want a centralized generative-media workflow. Its growing collection of creative applications and model choices provides flexibility for advertising, filmmaking, social content, product visualization, and other visual-production tasks.
