Choppity

Choppity is an AI-powered video editing and content repurposing platform designed to help creators, podcasters, marketers, businesses, and teams turn long-form videos into short-form social content. The platform combines AI video clipping, transcript-based editing, automated captions, automatic framing, speaker tracking, social publishing, content planning, analytics, and team collaboration in one web-based workspace. Choppity describes the product as a “Content OS” for creators and content-driven businesses, covering the workflow from generating ideas through editing and publishing.

The platform’s primary use case is converting long videos and podcasts into multiple short clips for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Users can upload a video or provide a YouTube link, after which Choppity analyzes the content, transcribes the speech, identifies potentially useful moments, and generates short clips. Its website says the AI can generate 30 or more clips from long-form content, while still allowing users to manually refine the resulting clips in the built-in editor.

Choppity’s AI clip generator is supported by its video-analysis system. AI Analysis Hours are used for long-to-short generation, including uploading, transcription, scene detection, and clip scoring. This means the amount of video a user can process is tied to the number of AI Analysis Hours available on the selected plan. Cloud storage is separate from AI analysis capacity, so having additional storage does not automatically provide more video-analysis capacity.

One of Choppity’s notable editing features is transcript-based video editing. After a video has been transcribed, users can edit the video by editing the words in the transcript. Removing a section of text can automatically remove the corresponding portion of the video. This provides an alternative to manually navigating a conventional video timeline and can be particularly useful for dialogue-heavy recordings such as podcasts, interviews, webinars, tutorials, and presentations.

Choppity also provides automated captions and keyword highlights. Captions can be styled with animations and customized to fit a creator’s visual identity. The platform supports 97 languages for transcription and clip generation, giving creators the ability to process content spoken in a wide range of languages. Choppity recommends selecting the correct spoken language before analysis to improve transcription accuracy.

Automatic framing is another important part of the platform. Choppity can transform landscape footage into vertical formats while keeping the main subject centered. Its automated tracking system can detect who is speaking and shift the focus accordingly. This is particularly useful for podcasts, interviews, and multi-speaker videos that need to be converted from traditional horizontal formats into mobile-first vertical content.

The platform also includes ClipAnything, an AI-powered video search and clipping feature. Rather than requiring users to watch an entire recording to locate a particular subject, quote, or moment, they can search the content and turn relevant sections into clips. Choppity’s website also describes a “Find Specific Moments” capability that uses AI to identify important moments and highlights.

For content safety and brand control, Choppity includes automatic profanity censoring. The feature can detect swear words and automatically beep or mute them. This can be useful when creators are preparing content for audiences or platforms where certain language may need to be removed or censored.

Choppity has expanded beyond editing into content planning and publishing. Its Ideas Board allows users to capture content ideas, briefs, tags, and media before publication, while the Content Calendar provides a timeline for planned, scheduled, and published posts. Brand templates can store fonts, colors, logos, and caption styles so creators and teams can maintain consistent visual branding across their clips.

Social publishing is built directly into the platform. Paid plans can connect social accounts and publish or schedule content to supported platforms. Choppity currently highlights one-click posting and scheduling to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The social scheduler is therefore part of the same workflow as clip generation and editing rather than requiring users to download every clip and manually upload it elsewhere.

Choppity also provides analytics for connected social accounts. The platform describes analytics as a way to track views, likes, and engagement across connected accounts. This makes the product more than an editing utility because users can create, plan, publish, and measure content within the same workspace.

Screen recording and transcription tools are also included. Users can record their screen or webcam without leaving Choppity and can generate transcripts from supported files and social URLs. These capabilities broaden the platform’s usefulness for tutorials, educational content, demonstrations, interviews, and other recordings that may later be converted into social clips.

Choppity is also designed for teams and agencies. Team plans provide shared workspaces, user roles, templates, team billing, usage reporting, and multiple social accounts. Enterprise plans add unlimited usage, custom integrations, API access, iframe integrations, white-label options, SSO, unlimited sub-teams, and dedicated support.

The platform also has a public API. Choppity’s API can programmatically generate clips from public video URLs or uploaded files, render clips, use webhooks to report completed jobs, and publish content to connected social accounts. The API documentation provides endpoints for clips, renders, uploads, posts, and social connections. Choppity also provides a remote MCP server that can allow compatible AI assistants to work with a Choppity workspace.

Choppity was founded in 2022 and originally focused on automatically transforming long-form video and podcast content into short social clips. The company was later acquired by Michael Wong in September 2025, after which the product expanded toward a broader content-management workflow. The current company describes itself as bootstrapped and focused on creators and content-driven businesses.

The current pricing structure includes Free, Starter, Creator, Team, and Enterprise options. The Free plan provides one hour of AI video analysis and 2 GB of cloud storage, but downloading and social scheduling are restricted. Paid plans provide larger analysis allowances, more storage, exports, scheduling, brand tools, and—in the Creator and higher plans—API access. Enterprise provides custom usage and advanced organizational features.

Choppity is therefore positioned as a combined AI video editor, short-form content generator, social publishing tool, and content-management workspace. Its strongest focus remains repurposing long-form video into short-form content, but its current feature set extends into planning, scheduling, analytics, collaboration, transcription, screen recording, and API-based automation.

Review

Choppity provides a broad workflow for creators who regularly need to turn long videos into multiple pieces of short-form content. Its AI clip generator, automated captions, framing, speaker tracking, transcript editing, and profanity censoring address several of the repetitive tasks involved in social-video production. The built-in editor also allows users to refine AI-generated clips instead of being locked into completely automatic results.

One of its most useful features is transcript-based editing. Instead of navigating every cut through a timeline, users can work with the words spoken in the video. This can make editing interviews, podcasts, webinars, tutorials, and other speech-heavy content more accessible, particularly for users who are less comfortable with traditional video-editing interfaces.

The automatic framing and speaker tracking tools are also relevant for repurposing horizontal content into vertical formats. Choppity can identify speakers and adjust the framing, which reduces the need to manually keyframe every speaker when creating social clips. This is particularly useful for multi-person podcast and interview footage.

Another distinguishing feature is that Choppity combines editing with planning and publishing. Users can organize ideas, maintain a content calendar, create branded clips, schedule social posts, and track performance from the same workspace. This can reduce the number of separate tools required for a social-video workflow.

The API also makes Choppity relevant for agencies and developers. It supports programmatic clip generation, rendering, webhooks, and social publishing. Enterprise customers can also use custom integrations and iframe functionality, while the remote MCP server provides another route for connecting AI assistants to Choppity workflows.

There are limitations to consider. The Free plan allows users to explore the core product but does not allow downloading or social scheduling. The amount of AI video generation is also limited by monthly AI Analysis Hours, so users producing large quantities of long-form content may need a higher plan. Storage and AI analysis are separate limits, meaning increasing storage does not increase the amount of video the AI can analyze.

Choppity also states that transcription accuracy depends on recording quality. Clear audio generally produces better results, while heavy accents, overlapping speakers, background music, and room echo can increase transcription errors. Users can correct transcript mistakes manually, but AI-generated results should still be reviewed before publishing.

Another consideration is language translation. Choppity supports transcription in 97 languages, but its current Help Center states that full in-app caption translation is limited. Users who need translated captions may need to export transcript or subtitle files and translate them externally.

The current product is therefore particularly centered on short-form content repurposing, social publishing, and creator workflows. Its combination of AI editing, content planning, publishing, analytics, team features, and API access gives it a broader scope than a basic AI clipping tool, while users seeking highly detailed professional post-production may still prefer a traditional full-featured video editor alongside Choppity.
