Wisecut is an AI-powered video editing and video repurposing platform designed to automatically turn long-form recordings into polished videos and short-form clips. It is particularly focused on podcasts, interviews, YouTube videos, webinars, streams, and other speech-driven content. Wisecut analyzes recorded footage to identify useful moments, remove unnecessary pauses, generate captions, reframe videos for different formats, and prepare clips for publishing. The company says more than 1 million creators and media teams use Wisecut.
Wisecut began in 2019, when its founders started developing software to automate the editing of voice-driven videos. The first public version launched in 2020 with automatic cuts, subtitles, and background music ducking. The platform later expanded into long-to-short video creation, AI-powered editing, and automated publishing.
A central feature of Wisecut is AI highlight detection, which analyzes recordings and identifies moments that may work well as short-form content. Instead of manually reviewing an entire recording, users can use Wisecut to generate clips from longer videos. Its workflow is particularly suited to podcasts, interviews, YouTube content, webinars, streams, and other recordings that can be repurposed into multiple pieces of content.
Wisecut also provides WISH, an AI editing interface that allows users to describe the desired edit in natural language. WISH can plan cuts, reframing, captions, and music based on the user’s instructions, after which the user can review the generated result.
The platform uses a storyboard-based editing workflow rather than requiring users to work through a traditional timeline. The storyboard is generated from the video’s transcription, allowing users to make changes by working with text and scenes. This can make basic editing more accessible to people who do not have experience with professional video-editing software.
Wisecut automatically removes silences, pauses, false starts, and other unnecessary sections. It also provides automatic punch-in and punch-out effects, allowing the camera view to zoom in or out around important moments. Auto-reframing can adapt content to vertical, square, and horizontal formats for different publishing destinations.
The platform includes automatic captions and translations, allowing creators to generate subtitles and adapt their content for audiences using different languages. Wisecut currently lists 11 supported languages in its Help Center: English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Hindi, Dutch, Korean, Japanese, and Arabic.
Audio-processing features include background-noise cancellation, studio voice processing, automatic background music selection, and automatic music ducking. Music volume can be reduced while someone is speaking and raised during sections without speech.
Wisecut also has an Autopilot workflow for creators who want to automate ongoing content production. Users can connect a YouTube channel, after which new videos or live streams can be processed into clips that are scheduled and published automatically.
The Social Hub extends this workflow to multiple social networks. Current supported networks include YouTube, Instagram Business, TikTok, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, and Bluesky. Social Hub can be used to publish and schedule videos and can automatically generate post titles, descriptions, and hashtags.
Wisecut also offers an MCP integration that connects the platform with AI clients such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, and Antigravity. This allows compatible AI assistants to access authorized Wisecut actions through an MCP connection.
For broadcasters and media organizations, Wisecut provides business workflows that can ingest live streams through RTMP, identify strong moments, create vertical clips, apply captions and branding, and prepare content for distribution.
Wisecut currently has a Free plan and paid Starter+ and Professional+ plans, with an Enterprise option for organizations requiring customized volume, API access, storage, support, and other requirements.
Wisecut states that annual billing can save up to 30%. Additional credit packs are also available, with purchased credits remaining valid for 12 months.
Wisecut is primarily built for automating video editing and repurposing, rather than serving as a traditional professional timeline editor. Its strongest workflow is taking long recordings and turning them into cleaner full-length videos and multiple short clips with minimal manual editing.
The combination of AI highlight detection, automatic silence removal, captions, reframing, punch-ins, background music, and audio cleanup can significantly reduce repetitive editing work. The storyboard interface also provides a simpler alternative to conventional timeline-based editing.
Its newer WISH and Autopilot features make the platform more automation-oriented. WISH lets users describe an editing goal, while Autopilot can monitor connected YouTube channels and turn new content into scheduled clips. This makes Wisecut relevant to creators who publish frequently and want to reduce repetitive post-production tasks.
The Social Hub adds direct publishing and scheduling across several major social platforms, while the MCP integration allows Wisecut to be incorporated into AI-assisted workflows.
One limitation is that the free plan is deliberately restricted to 360p and 60 minutes per month. Higher-quality exports, greater processing capacity, broader automation, and more social-account connections require paid plans. The credit system also means high-volume users need to monitor how their credits are allocated between Editor, Autopilot, and WISH.
Wisecut is particularly suited to YouTubers, podcasters, interview creators, marketers, educators, media teams, broadcasters, and businesses that need to transform long-form footage into shorter, captioned, platform-ready content.
