Zapier AI

Zapier AI is the artificial-intelligence layer within Zapier’s automation platform, allowing users to add AI capabilities directly to automated workflows. Zapier combines AI-powered steps, autonomous agents, chatbots, app integrations, and automation tools so users can connect their business applications and use AI to process information or take actions across those applications. Zapier currently describes its platform as an infrastructure for AI-powered automation, with more than 9,000 app integrations and support for no-code, low-code, and full-code workflows.

AI by Zapier allows users to insert AI into individual workflow steps. These steps can be used for tasks such as summarizing information, classifying data, extracting information, generating content, making decisions, and producing automated responses. Users can also add tools to AI by Zapier so an AI step can gather information or perform actions across connected applications rather than simply generating a response.

Zapier’s AI capabilities also include AI agents. Agents are AI-powered assistants that can perform tasks independently or in response to interactions. Zapier is currently migrating its standalone Agents product into AI by Zapier, bringing agentic reasoning, tool calling, and autonomous task execution directly into the Zap editor. This allows agentic steps to be combined with traditional triggers, actions, filters, paths, and other workflow components.

Zapier also provides AI-powered chatbots that can be embedded on websites. These chatbots can answer questions, provide information, collect leads, and connect conversations with automated workflows. Zapier describes customer support, lead qualification, and internal information access as examples of chatbot use cases.

Another major component is Zapier MCP, which connects AI assistants to applications through the Model Context Protocol. This allows compatible AI clients to perform actions in connected applications through Zapier. Zapier says MCP provides access to more than 9,000 apps and more than 40,000 actions, while handling authentication, connections, and rate limits.

Zapier AI can work with a wide range of applications, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Slack, Microsoft Outlook, Salesforce, HubSpot, Notion, and many other business applications. The platform currently lists more than 9,000 apps and more than 450 AI tools within its ecosystem.

The platform is suitable for automating repetitive business processes, processing incoming information, generating content, managing customer interactions, routing leads, updating records, conducting research, and coordinating actions between multiple applications. It is designed to let users introduce AI into existing workflows rather than requiring them to replace their existing software stack.

Pricing

Zapier uses subscription plans combined with task-based usage. The current main platform offers Free, Professional, Team, and Enterprise plans. The Free plan costs $0/month and includes 100 tasks per month. Professional starts at $19.99/month, Team starts at $69/month, and Enterprise uses custom pricing.

AI by Zapier uses model-based task multipliers. Standard AI usage is charged at 1× tasks, Advanced at 3×, and Premium at 5×. Users can also connect their own AI account, which uses a 1× task multiplier. AI by Zapier with tool calling is available on Professional, Team, and Enterprise plans.

Zapier also offers separate pricing for products such as Agents and Chatbots. Agents currently has a Free option, a Pro option listed at $400 annually, and an Enterprise option with custom pricing. Chatbots has Free, Pro, Advanced, and Custom options.

Review

Zapier AI brings AI capabilities into a mature automation ecosystem rather than operating as a standalone AI writing or chatbot application. Its major strength is the ability to combine AI processing with conventional automation, app integrations, data handling, and business workflows.

The platform supports a broad range of AI tasks, including data extraction, classification, summarization, content generation, automated responses, and decision-making. AI by Zapier can also use connected tools, making it possible for an AI workflow to gather information and take actions across applications.

Its large integration ecosystem is another significant feature. Zapier currently supports more than 9,000 applications, allowing AI workflows to interact with widely used business tools. This makes it possible to incorporate AI into existing CRM, email, marketing, productivity, customer-service, and data workflows without rebuilding those systems.

The main consideration is the task-based pricing structure. AI model tiers can consume different numbers of tasks, with Advanced and Premium models using more tasks per run than Standard. Tool calls can also increase usage. This means users running high-volume or complex AI workflows need to monitor task consumption.

Zapier AI is therefore particularly relevant for organizations that want to combine AI with existing business applications and automated processes. It can support both straightforward AI steps and more autonomous workflows, while Zapier’s broader platform provides the integrations and workflow infrastructure around them.
