Clockwise AI was an AI-powered calendar and time-management platform designed to optimize schedules for individuals, teams, and organizations. Founded in 2016 and publicly launched in June 2019, Clockwise used artificial intelligence and machine learning to coordinate meetings, protect uninterrupted focus time, and reduce unnecessary interruptions during the workday. The company was founded by Matt Martin, Mike Grinolds, and Gary Lerhaupt.
The platform focused on a problem common in modern workplaces: calendars are shared across teams, so changing one meeting can affect several people’s schedules. Clockwise was designed to consider individual preferences and team availability when arranging calendars rather than simply placing meetings into any available time slot.
One of Clockwise’s main capabilities was AI-powered calendar optimization. Users could specify preferences around working hours, meetings, focus periods, and scheduling flexibility. Clockwise then used those preferences to help organize the calendar and identify better times for meetings and focused work. The system could automatically adjust eligible meetings when doing so created a more productive schedule.
Focus Time was another central feature. Clockwise could create uninterrupted blocks of time for concentrated work by reorganizing flexible meetings and identifying periods where users were less likely to be interrupted. This was particularly useful for knowledge workers whose schedules contained frequent meetings.
The platform also supported Smart Meeting Rescheduling. Flexible meetings could be moved when necessary to create larger blocks of uninterrupted work time. Clockwise’s scheduling system considered the calendars and preferences of participants when finding alternative times.
Clockwise provided Scheduling Links for arranging meetings without lengthy email exchanges. Users could share availability with other people and allow meetings to be scheduled around existing commitments and preferences.
The platform also supported team calendar coordination. Rather than optimizing only one person’s calendar, Clockwise could consider the schedules of multiple people within an organization. This helped teams coordinate meetings while protecting time for individual work.
Clockwise also offered calendar synchronization with major workplace calendar systems. Its published product information documented integrations with Google and Outlook calendars, allowing users to bring their existing meetings and commitments into the scheduling workflow.
Another part of the platform was its focus on time orchestration. Clockwise positioned itself not simply as a calendar application but as a system for coordinating shared time across teams. Its technology was intended to balance collaborative meeting time with uninterrupted individual work.
The platform was used by organizations across technology, business, and other knowledge-work environments. Before its shutdown, Clockwise stated that more than 40,000 organizations had used the product. The company reported that its platform had created more than 8 million hours of Focus Time and moved more than 23 million meetings to better times.
Clockwise also developed analytics and team-oriented functionality. Its Clockwise for Teams offering was designed to help organizations understand how time was being spent and coordinate schedules across teams.
The company continued developing AI-based scheduling capabilities through 2025. Clockwise described its technology as using AI to optimize schedules, find time for focused work, and handle scheduling changes without requiring users to manually reorganize their calendars.
However, Clockwise is no longer an active product. In 2026, the company announced that the Clockwise team would join Salesforce and that the Clockwise product would be discontinued. Product access ended on March 27, 2026. Clockwise stated that Scheduling Links would stop working, Clockwise-managed Focus Time and other Smart Hold events would be removed, and customer data would be deleted after the shutdown.
The shutdown means Clockwise should now be treated as a historical AI scheduling platform rather than a currently available calendar assistant. The technology and product history remain relevant for understanding AI-powered scheduling, but users looking for an active service need to consider alternatives.
Before its shutdown, Clockwise used a freemium and subscription-based pricing model. Published pricing included a free option, a Teams plan at approximately $6.75 per user per month, a Business plan at approximately $11.50 per user per month, and customized Enterprise pricing.
Clockwise is no longer accepting new customers because the product was discontinued on March 27, 2026. Clockwise stated that prepaid subscriptions extending beyond the shutdown date were eligible for prorated refunds.
Clockwise was built around a focused productivity problem: managing shared calendars without allowing meetings to consume the majority of the workday. Its strongest feature was the combination of automated scheduling and Focus Time protection.
The platform differentiated itself from conventional calendar applications by actively attempting to reorganize schedules according to user preferences. Instead of simply showing available spaces, Clockwise could move eligible meetings and create larger blocks of uninterrupted work time.
Its team-oriented approach was also significant. Calendar optimization becomes more complicated when several people need to attend the same meeting, and Clockwise was designed to consider those shared constraints.
The platform’s main limitation today is availability: Clockwise is discontinued. Its product access ended on March 27, 2026, meaning its scheduling, Focus Time, and Scheduling Link features are no longer available.
For historical purposes, Clockwise represents an important example of AI-assisted calendar optimization and time orchestration. For users looking for a currently active service, the discontinued status should be considered before relying on older reviews, pricing pages, or feature descriptions.
