Hex Magic is the AI-powered intelligence layer within Hex, an analytics platform designed to help data teams explore, analyze, visualize, and share data. Originally introduced as a suite of AI assistance tools in 2023, Hex Magic has evolved into the broader collection of AI capabilities now available across Hex, including the Notebook Agent, Threads, Generative Apps, Chat With App, and Modeling Agent.

The core idea behind Hex Magic is to make sophisticated data work easier without removing the analyst or data scientist from the workflow. The current Notebook Agent acts as a natural-language assistant inside Hex projects. It can generate and edit Python, SQL, Markdown, Pivot, and Chart cells while using the surrounding project context and warehouse schema. Hex states that its AI providers do not train on customer data and that, by default, providers operate under zero-data-retention agreements. Enterprise customers can also use BYOK for supported AI providers. Hex additionally highlights SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance across its platform.

Hex currently offers four main plans:

• Team: $75 per Editor/month.

The Team plan includes a 14-day free trial. AI features use a credit system, with monthly credits included according to plan and additional credits available for purchase. Professional includes 30 credits per Editor/month, while Team includes 40 credits per Editor/month for Editors and 10 credits/month for Explorer seats.
