Equals AI

Equals is an AI-powered spreadsheet and business intelligence platform designed to help companies connect, analyze, model, and report on live business data without relying on static spreadsheet exports. The platform combines the familiar structure of a spreadsheet with direct connections to databases, data warehouses, SaaS applications, dashboards, SQL, and AI-assisted analysis.

Equals was created around the idea that spreadsheets remain one of the most flexible interfaces for business analysis, but traditional spreadsheets often depend on manually exported or outdated data. Equals addresses this by connecting workbooks directly to business data sources and keeping information synchronized. The company was founded by Bobby Pinero and Ben McRedmond in 2021.

The platform is particularly focused on business analytics, revenue operations, finance, sales, customer reporting, and other workflows where teams need to repeatedly work with changing data. Users can build spreadsheets, dashboards, reports, models, and analyses using connected data rather than repeatedly downloading CSV files or copying information between applications.

One of Equals’ main capabilities is its connected spreadsheet environment. Users can connect databases and warehouses such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and other supported sources. SaaS applications such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, Intercom, Zendesk, Shopify, and other business systems can also be connected. The documentation states that connected sources can synchronize into an Equals Warehouse powered by Snowflake, allowing information from multiple sources to be joined, transformed, and queried.

Equals supports both traditional spreadsheet functions and more advanced analytical workflows. Users can create formulas, pivot tables, charts, queries, and dashboards while working with connected data. The SQL editor and visual query builder provide additional ways to explore datasets, while scheduled queries can automate recurring data operations.

AI is integrated directly into the spreadsheet experience. Equals AI Assist can help users write, edit, and fix SQL and spreadsheet formulas, while the newer AI experience can answer questions about trusted business data and build reports and analyses. The platform is designed around traceability, allowing users to inspect the formulas and queries behind figures rather than treating AI-generated numbers as unexplained outputs.

The platform also supports AI agents that can work with trusted workbooks and connected business data. This makes it possible to ask questions about metrics such as pipeline, revenue, customer performance, or other business indicators and receive analysis based on connected company information.

For revenue and sales teams, Equals provides templates and workflows covering ARR reporting, pipeline analysis, sales conversion, customer retention, sales forecasting, customer health, and related metrics. Its website also highlights workflows for understanding pipeline coverage, funnel conversion, revenue, engagement, and customer performance.

Dashboards are another major part of the platform. Users can transform spreadsheet-based analyses into live dashboards and distribute scheduled updates through Slack or email. This allows recurring reports to become part of a team’s operating workflow rather than remaining static spreadsheet files.

Equals also supports writeback capabilities on its higher plans, allowing calculated information to be pushed back into connected CRM systems. This creates a two-way workflow in which data can be analyzed in Equals and relevant results can then be returned to operational systems.

For larger organizations, Equals offers enterprise-oriented features including unlimited connectors on the Enterprise plan, faster data synchronization, enterprise SSO, large-data capabilities through Infinity, and additional AI usage. The platform also states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and encrypts sensitive credentials.

Equals is therefore positioned less as a simple spreadsheet replacement and more as a connected analytics environment where spreadsheets, business intelligence, data sources, AI, and recurring reporting workflows can operate together. Its strongest focus is on teams that need repeatable, auditable analysis of live company data while retaining the flexibility of a spreadsheet interface.

Pricing

Equals currently offers three main paid plans:

  • Essential: $24,000/year
  • Business: $36,000/year
  • Enterprise: $60,000/year

All plans include unlimited viewers and editors. Essential includes three connectors and $250/month in included AI spend. Business includes five connectors or a warehouse and $500/month in included AI spend. Enterprise includes unlimited connectors or a warehouse and $1,000/month in included AI spend. AI usage beyond the included amount is usage-based.

Business adds features such as writeback and Infinity, while Enterprise adds enterprise SSO and unlimited connectors or warehouse connectivity. Additional connectors are available for an additional charge on applicable plans.

Review

Equals provides a distinctive combination of spreadsheet flexibility, live data connectivity, SQL, dashboards, and AI-assisted analysis. Its ability to work directly with business databases and SaaS applications reduces the need for repeated manual exports and allows teams to build analyses that remain connected to changing data.

The AI functionality is particularly useful when working with formulas, SQL, reports, and business questions. Instead of requiring users to move their data into a separate AI tool, Equals places AI assistance inside the analytical environment. The platform also emphasizes traceability, which is important when calculations need to be reviewed or verified.

Its database, warehouse, CRM, analytics, billing, and support integrations make it suitable for organizations with multiple sources of operational data. Scheduled queries, dashboards, Slack/email distribution, and writeback features can also support recurring business workflows.

The main limitation is pricing. With the entry-level plan costing $24,000 annually, Equals is targeted primarily at businesses and teams rather than individual spreadsheet users. The platform may also require some familiarity with SQL, data connections, and analytical concepts for users who want to take full advantage of its capabilities.

For organizations that need a spreadsheet interface while working with live operational data, Equals offers a broad combination of analytics, automation, AI assistance, dashboards, and data connectivity. Its focus on connected business intelligence makes it particularly relevant to finance, revenue operations, sales, analytics, and management reporting teams.
