Quadratic AI

Quadratic AI is an AI-powered spreadsheet and data analysis platform designed to combine the familiar structure of a spreadsheet with artificial intelligence, live data connections, programming languages, and collaborative workflows. Developed by Quadratic, the platform allows users to bring data from files, databases, business applications, and APIs into a single spreadsheet environment and then analyze that information using natural-language prompts, formulas, Python, SQL, and JavaScript.

Unlike a conventional spreadsheet that relies primarily on manually written formulas, Quadratic is built around code-backed analysis. Users can ask its AI assistant questions about their data in plain English, and the system can generate formulas, Python code, SQL queries, charts, and other spreadsheet content. Users can inspect and edit the generated code, making the analysis more transparent and repeatable.

Quadratic supports multiple approaches to working with data. Traditional spreadsheet formulas are available for familiar spreadsheet calculations, while Python can be used for more advanced data analysis. SQL allows users to create live connections to databases and retrieve query results directly into the spreadsheet. JavaScript is also available for users who want to build programmable workflows or interact with APIs.

The AI assistant is one of Quadratic’s main features. Users can describe the analysis they want in natural language, and Quadratic AI can generate the required code and place the results into the spreadsheet. The AI can also create charts, modify existing analysis, and help identify and fix errors. Generated code remains visible in the spreadsheet so users can review the logic rather than receiving only an opaque answer.

Quadratic is also designed for connected data. Users can import CSV, Excel, PDF, and Parquet files and connect directly to databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, CockroachDB, Supabase, and Neon. The platform also provides connections to business applications and services including QuickBooks, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Plaid, Salesforce, Stripe, and many other sources.

The platform is designed to keep connected data current. Scheduled Tasks can refresh connected data and update downstream analysis, charts, reports, and dashboards on a recurring schedule. This makes Quadratic suitable for repeatable reporting workflows where users do not want to repeatedly download and clean the same data manually.

Quadratic also supports large datasets. The company states that the platform can work with datasets containing up to 100 million rows and multi-gigabyte CSV and Parquet imports, positioning it for data workloads that can exceed the practical limits of conventional spreadsheet applications.

Another important capability is AI-agent connectivity. Quadratic supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing compatible AI clients such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other MCP-enabled tools to interact with Quadratic spreadsheets. Through the Quadratic API, developers can also read and write spreadsheet cells, trigger AI runs, and orchestrate spreadsheet workflows from their own applications.

Quadratic therefore extends beyond ordinary spreadsheet calculations. Its combination of AI, code, live data connections, APIs, and scheduled workflows makes it suitable for business intelligence, financial analysis, product analytics, marketing reporting, research, operational analysis, and other data-intensive workflows.

The platform also emphasizes auditability. AI-generated Python, SQL, JavaScript, formulas, and charts can be inspected and edited, allowing users to understand how an analysis was produced. This is useful for teams that need repeatable analysis rather than one-off AI answers.

Quadratic was founded in 2022 by David Kircos and Peter Mills and is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. The company describes its primary product as an AI spreadsheet for connected data analysis. It states that the platform is SOC 2 and HIPAA certified.

Pricing

Quadratic currently offers four main pricing tiers: Personal, Pro, Business, and Enterprise. The Personal plan is free. Pro costs $18 per user/month when billed annually, while Business costs $36 per user/month when billed annually. Enterprise pricing is customized.

The Personal plan includes limited AI usage, sharing, files, connections, and support. Pro includes $20 of AI credits per month, additional AI models, privacy controls, and unlimited sharing, files, and connections. Business includes $40 of AI credits per month, the ability to purchase additional AI credits on demand, and Pro features. Enterprise includes custom AI usage, SSO, self-hosting options, and dedicated support.

Quadratic also states that users can sign up for a free account to try the product without a separate paid trial.

Review

Quadratic AI takes a different approach to AI spreadsheet software by combining natural-language AI with actual code, formulas, databases, and live connections. Rather than limiting AI to generating spreadsheet formulas, it can generate Python, SQL, JavaScript, charts, and complete analytical workflows.

One of its strongest characteristics is transparency. When Quadratic AI generates an analysis, users can inspect the resulting code and modify it if necessary. This makes it possible to review how calculations were performed and maintain a repeatable workflow instead of relying entirely on an unexplained AI response.

Its connectivity is another significant feature. Quadratic can combine information from databases, spreadsheets, PDFs, SaaS applications, APIs, and financial sources in a single workspace. Connections to services such as QuickBooks, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Plaid, and Salesforce can reduce the need to repeatedly export information into a separate spreadsheet.

The platform is also suitable for technical and non-technical users. Someone who prefers spreadsheets can use formulas and natural-language prompts, while a data analyst or developer can use Python, SQL, or JavaScript directly. This gives Quadratic a wider analytical range than a spreadsheet product based exclusively on formulas.

Its AI-agent functionality further expands its use. Through MCP and the API, external AI tools and applications can interact with Quadratic spreadsheets, read or modify cells, and participate in automated workflows.

The main consideration is that Quadratic is more technically capable than a basic spreadsheet assistant, which means users who only need simple spreadsheet calculations may not need all of its programming, database, API, and AI-agent capabilities. Paid AI usage is also tied to monthly AI-credit allocations, with additional credits available on higher plans.

For users and organizations working with connected data, repeatable analysis, large datasets, and AI-assisted spreadsheet workflows, Quadratic provides a unified environment for importing, analyzing, coding, visualizing, and sharing data.
