Rows AI

Rows AI is the artificial intelligence layer built into Rows, a modern spreadsheet platform designed for importing, transforming, analyzing, and sharing business data. Rather than treating AI as a separate chatbot or add-on, Rows places AI directly inside the spreadsheet workflow, allowing users to ask questions, manipulate tables, generate formulas, analyze datasets, create charts, extract information, and automate repetitive data tasks using natural language.

The core AI experience includes the AI Analyst, which works as a spreadsheet copilot. Users can ask questions about their data and receive assistance with analysis, calculations, transformations, and visualization. The AI Analyst can summarize tables, create pivot tables, merge datasets, generate charts, identify trends, find outliers, perform forecasts, and explore what-if scenarios. This makes Rows AI particularly focused on data analysis rather than general-purpose conversational assistance.

Rows also provides an AI Cell that brings AI directly into spreadsheet cells. Users can start with an equals sign and describe what they want the cell to do. The system can then help solve formulas or perform other spreadsheet operations. This approach reduces the need to manually construct complicated formulas for many everyday spreadsheet tasks.

Another important capability is Rows AI’s collection of specialized AI functions. These functions can be used to ask questions, classify text, apply instructions to data, extract information, summarize content, analyze sentiment, rewrite text, generate advertising content, create product descriptions, generate keywords, and translate text. This makes the AI useful for both numerical data work and text-based business operations.

Rows AI can also work with unstructured information. Rows Vision allows users to turn PDFs, invoices, screenshots, scans, and images into editable spreadsheet tables. This can be useful when business information exists in documents rather than structured spreadsheets. Users can provide custom instructions to control how information is extracted from those sources.

The platform also supports real-world data enrichment. Rows can connect spreadsheets to external services and public databases, allowing users to enrich existing datasets with information about companies, people, locations, financial data, marketing performance, and other subjects. Its integrations include services such as Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Google Search Console, LinkedIn, Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Snowflake, BigQuery, and many others.

Rows AI can be particularly useful for marketing and sales teams. Dedicated AI functions can generate advertising content, product titles, product descriptions, keywords, and meta descriptions. Rows also provides tools for keyword research and can classify customer feedback or perform sentiment analysis, allowing marketing and customer-success workflows to be handled within the same spreadsheet environment.

For more advanced analysis, Rows includes built-in Python capabilities. The platform describes Python as a way to perform advanced statistical analysis, cohorts, and forecasts without requiring users to work directly with a separate programming environment. This allows data analysts to combine spreadsheet workflows with more advanced analytical methods.

Rows also supports automated data workflows. Data Tables can import information from integrations, refresh data automatically, and transform incoming information into structured datasets. Users can work with external APIs through HTTP requests and can use the Rows API to programmatically read and maintain spreadsheet data.

AI usage is available across Rows plans. The current Free plan includes five AI tasks per month, while Plus includes 200, Pro includes 1,000, and Enterprise provides unlimited AI tasks. Rows explains that AI is available throughout the platform and that paid plans provide substantially higher usage allowances.

Rows also states that it sends only the minimum information necessary to the AI system and that customer data is not used to train AI models for others. According to Rows, the information shared with the model can include table headers, a sample of up to five rows, and basic statistics, depending on the task.

The platform currently uses a combination of OpenAI GPT models, Llama, and other large language models for its AI functionality. Rows says that the models are regularly updated, while custom model requirements can be discussed for enterprise use.

Rows is therefore best understood as an AI-enhanced spreadsheet and data-analysis platform rather than simply an AI writing tool. Its main strength is the integration of natural-language AI into familiar spreadsheet operations, allowing users to combine structured data, external integrations, automated workflows, analysis, and AI-powered transformations in one workspace.

Pricing

Rows currently has four main plans: Free, Plus, Pro, and Enterprise. The Free plan costs $0 and includes five AI tasks per month. Plus costs $8 per user per month when billed monthly, or $6 per user per month when billed annually. Pro costs $79 per month plus $8 per user monthly, or $59 per month plus $6 per user when billed annually. Enterprise pricing is custom.

Review

Rows AI is designed for users who work extensively with spreadsheets and business data but want more automation and analytical assistance than traditional spreadsheet software provides. Its AI Analyst brings natural-language interaction directly into the spreadsheet, while AI functions allow users to apply repeatable operations to rows and columns.

A major advantage is the combination of AI with external data integrations. Users can bring information from advertising platforms, analytics systems, CRMs, databases, social platforms, and APIs into Rows and then analyze or transform that information using AI. This makes it possible to build repeatable data workflows without relying entirely on manual spreadsheet work.

Rows AI is also useful for text-heavy datasets. Functions for classification, extraction, sentiment analysis, summarization, rewriting, translation, keyword generation, and content creation give marketing, sales, research, and customer-support teams ways to process large amounts of text directly within spreadsheets.

The platform has some limitations to consider. AI usage on the Free plan is limited to five tasks per month, while higher usage requires a paid plan. More advanced organizations may also need Enterprise for custom AI models, functions, integrations, and high-volume usage.

Rows is also centered on spreadsheet-based workflows. Users looking for a dedicated business-intelligence platform, full database environment, or general-purpose AI development platform may need additional tools. Its AI capabilities are strongest when combined with structured data, spreadsheet analysis, and connected business services.
