Tray.ai is an enterprise AI orchestration, integration, and automation platform designed to help organizations connect applications, automate business processes, integrate data, and build and govern AI agents. The platform combines integration and automation capabilities with newer AI-focused features such as AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) governance, AI-assisted workflow development, and headless development. Tray positions the platform as a single environment for integrating data and AI, deploying agents, automating processes, and managing governance across connected systems.
At its core, Tray.ai provides a low-code workflow builder that lets users connect services, retrieve data, transform information, perform actions, and send results to other applications. Workflows can be triggered by events from connected services, scheduled to run periodically, or initiated through webhooks. The platform also supports conditional logic, data transformation, callable workflows, and reusable projects, allowing teams to build more complex business processes without developing every integration from scratch.
Tray.ai’s integration capabilities are based around its connector ecosystem. The official connector directory currently lists more than 550 individual connectors, while the current Tray.ai homepage markets the platform as supporting more than 700 services/connectors. These connectors cover CRM, marketing, customer support, finance, HR, databases, cloud services, productivity platforms, developer tools, analytics systems, and AI services. Tray also supports custom services and universal HTTP/API connectivity when a pre-built connector is not available.
AI is now a central part of the Tray.ai platform. Merlin Agent Builder provides a no-code environment for creating conversational or autonomous AI agents that can reason, act, and work with organizational knowledge and connected tools. Tray also provides Agent Gateway for MCP, allowing organizations to expose connectors and workflows as governed MCP tools while applying authentication, access control, observability, and other governance mechanisms.
Tray’s AI capabilities are also integrated into workflow development. Merlin AI can assist users in creating workflows from natural-language instructions, modifying existing workflows, and generating workflow descriptions and documentation. Tray Build, for example, can translate a natural-language description into workflow steps and place them into the visual workflow builder.
The newer Tray Headless capability extends the platform into AI development environments. Developers can use Tray from environments such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, or other MCP-compatible clients. Tray Headless allows users to build, configure, validate, and run workflows through natural-language or MCP-driven interactions while keeping the resulting workflows connected to Tray’s visual builder.
Tray.ai also provides intelligent document processing through Tray IDP. It can process documents such as invoices, purchase orders, receipts, contracts, forms, medical records, shipping documents, identity documents, and resumes. Users can use natural-language queries to extract information from documents and then send that information into downstream systems through Tray workflows.
Governance is another major component of Tray.ai’s enterprise offering. The platform includes role-based access control, audit trails, observability, security controls, authentication management, and usage monitoring. Enterprise capabilities include features such as regional hosting, on-premises connectivity, SSO, HIPAA support, log streaming, and data engineering. Tray also operates regional infrastructure in the US, EU, and APAC.
The platform is suitable for organizations that need to automate processes across multiple departments. Common applications include lead routing, customer support automation, IT service management, data synchronization, sales operations, employee onboarding, marketing workflows, financial processes, and AI-powered business applications. Tray’s customer and solution materials also cover areas such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, logistics, retail, government, and other enterprise environments.
Tray.ai therefore sits between traditional integration-platform-as-a-service products and newer AI orchestration platforms. Its emphasis is not simply on generating AI content; instead, it connects AI agents and models to business systems so that AI-powered processes can retrieve information, make decisions, call tools, and trigger actions inside controlled enterprise workflows.
Tray.ai uses usage-based pricing combined with plan and feature requirements. The current pricing structure includes Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans. Tray states that customers choose a plan and add-ons, with pricing based on usage and the features required. Exact pricing is provided through a customized quote rather than a single publicly displayed price for the main plans.
The Pro plan is designed for specific use cases and includes up to three workspaces, 7-day insights, 7-day log retention, and access to 700+ connectors.
The Team plan supports multiple use cases within a department and includes up to 20 workspaces, 30-day insights, expandable log retention, log-retention management, Guardian Log Masking, and access to additional add-ons.
The Enterprise plan provides unlimited workspaces and additional enterprise capabilities including advanced on-premise connectivity, SSO, HIPAA, regional hosting, log streaming, and data engineering.
Tray.ai also offers a free trial so organizations can explore the platform before committing.
Tray.ai provides a broad enterprise automation environment that combines integration, workflow automation, AI agents, MCP, APIs, and governance in one platform. Its architecture is particularly suited to organizations that need AI to operate against real business systems rather than remain isolated from operational data.
One of its notable characteristics is the breadth of its development options. Users can build workflows visually with Tray Build, use AI assistance through Merlin, access connectors through APIs, or use Tray Headless from AI development environments. This gives both low-code users and technical teams different ways to interact with the same underlying platform.
The platform’s governance capabilities are also important for enterprise deployments. Organizations can manage credentials, access, workflow execution, audit trails, and regional deployment while extending AI agents through governed MCP services. This can be useful where security and control are important requirements for AI adoption.
The main consideration is pricing complexity. Tray.ai’s current pricing depends on usage, plan selection, and additional features, with customized pricing for the main Pro, Team, and Enterprise offerings. Organizations therefore need to evaluate expected usage and required capabilities when estimating costs.
Another consideration is the platform’s breadth. Tray.ai includes integrations, automation, APIs, AI agents, MCP, document processing, governance, and developer tooling. This provides substantial functionality but may be more infrastructure than an individual user needs for a simple automation.
