UiPath Autopilot is a natural-language AI assistant built directly into the UiPath Platform to help teams accelerate the automation lifecycle. Rather than functioning as a separate chatbot or standalone application, Autopilot works inside UiPath products and uses the context of the product and task being performed. It is designed to help users build automations, operate existing automation environments, and troubleshoot problems using conversational instructions.
The current Autopilot experience is built on UiPath’s infrastructure for coding agents and can work with skills, tools, commands, and administrator-approved resources. Users can use built-in skills, create their own skills, or combine their own skills with UiPath-provided capabilities. This allows organizations to tailor the assistant to their automation processes and governance requirements.
One of Autopilot’s primary capabilities is natural-language automation development. Users can describe what they want to accomplish, and Autopilot can help generate workflows, expressions, API calls, agents, schemas, and tests. This can reduce the amount of manual configuration required when creating or modifying automation projects.
Autopilot also supports process design and automation operations. Within UiPath Maestro, for example, it can help translate business requirements into BPMN designs. In Orchestrator, it can assist with monitoring job health, queues, schedules, and operational issues. For testing, it can generate tests from requirements and help analyze results.
Troubleshooting is another major part of the platform. Autopilot can diagnose automation failures, assist with debugging, and suggest solutions such as selector healing. The current documentation also describes capabilities for diagnosing problems across RPA, Orchestrator, Maestro, Agents, and Integration Service.
Governance is an important part of UiPath Autopilot’s enterprise positioning. Administrators can control which tools, policies, activities, and packages Autopilot is allowed to use. Actions can be logged and governed through the UiPath AI Trust Layer, giving organizations greater visibility into how the assistant is being used.
Autopilot also supports different underlying AI models. UiPath states that organizations can use models such as GPT, Gemini, Claude, or compatible models of their choice through the platform’s supported model infrastructure. This gives enterprises flexibility over the models used for their AI-assisted automation workflows.
The product has evolved since UiPath introduced Autopilot capabilities for developers and testers in 2024. UiPath announced its developer and tester Autopilot capabilities on July 2, 2024, followed by Autopilot for Everyone in October 2024.
Autopilot is particularly suited to organizations already using UiPath because it is embedded into the existing platform rather than requiring users to move their work into a separate AI application. Its capabilities span development, process design, testing, operations, and troubleshooting, making it relevant to both technical automation teams and business users.
UiPath Autopilot does not have a simple standalone monthly price. Current UiPath documentation states that Autopilot is available through UiPath licensing models including Unified Pricing and Flex, with usage drawing from an AI and Agentic usage pool. Autopilot is not available on the Free plan.
UiPath’s current platform pricing lists Basic at $25 per month, while Standard and Enterprise pricing is provided through contact with UiPath. The exact Autopilot capacity depends on the organization’s licensing model, user license, and applicable usage pool.
Pricing Model: Subscription / Consumption-based
Autopilot is included as part of eligible UiPath licensing rather than being sold as an independently priced application. Usage is subject to the AI and Agentic usage pool under the applicable licensing model. Autopilot actions such as certain expression-generation actions are not subject to usage-pool consumption.
UiPath Autopilot is designed for organizations that want AI assistance directly inside their automation development and operations environment. Its strongest characteristic is its integration with the wider UiPath ecosystem: users can work with natural-language instructions without leaving products such as Studio, Maestro, Test Manager, and Orchestrator.
The ability to generate workflows, tests, expressions, API calls, and process designs can make automation development more accessible and reduce repetitive configuration work. Its troubleshooting capabilities can also help teams investigate failures using conversational requests instead of manually searching through multiple parts of an automation environment.
Another notable advantage is enterprise governance. Administrators can restrict available tools and packages, establish company rules, and maintain records of Autopilot activity through UiPath’s governance infrastructure. This is useful for organizations that need controls around AI-assisted automation.
There are also limitations to consider. Autopilot is closely tied to the UiPath Platform, so its value is greatest for organizations already working within the UiPath ecosystem. Licensing is more complicated than a simple consumer AI subscription because access and usage depend on UiPath licensing and AI/Agentic usage pools. Autopilot is also not included in the Free plan.
For teams already using UiPath, Autopilot provides a way to bring natural-language assistance into automation development, testing, operations, and troubleshooting without introducing a separate workflow environment.
