Workato AI, also presented within Workato’s broader AI and agentic platform, brings artificial intelligence into enterprise workflows, integrations, and business process automation. Rather than functioning only as a standalone AI content or chatbot application, Workato combines AI capabilities with its integration and orchestration platform so organizations can connect AI models to business applications, data, APIs, and automated workflows.
The platform is designed for organizations that need AI to work with existing enterprise systems. Workato provides a large connector ecosystem covering CRM, ERP, HR, finance, productivity, customer service, developer, security, and other business applications. Its current integration library contains more than 1,000 connectors, while Workato’s current platform messaging promotes connectivity across more than 10,000 apps and systems.
AI by Workato is a utility connector that provides preconfigured AI actions for use inside Workato recipes. It is built through collaboration with AI model providers including Anthropic and OpenAI. Workato states that customer data processed through AI by Workato is not used for training purposes. The connector supports common business-oriented AI tasks such as analyzing text, categorizing text, drafting emails, parsing text, summarizing text, and translating text. The current connector documentation also lists image analysis.
Workato’s wider AI platform goes beyond these utility actions. The platform includes AI agents, AI workflows, Agent Studio, Agent Orchestration, AI Control Plane, AI Gateway, Enterprise MCP, and AIRO. These capabilities are intended to help businesses build AI-powered processes that can interact with enterprise systems and execute actions rather than simply generate responses.
A major strength of the platform is its ability to combine AI with deterministic automation. Organizations can use AI for tasks such as classification, summarization, analysis, or drafting while using Workato recipes and integrations to perform subsequent business actions. For example, an AI step can analyze incoming information and a workflow can then update a CRM, send an email, create a support record, or pass information to another business system.
Workato also emphasizes enterprise governance and security. Its platform supports centralized management of integrations, workflows, users, access, and connected applications. The platform can connect cloud applications as well as on-premises systems, giving organizations a way to incorporate AI into existing enterprise infrastructure.
The platform is particularly oriented toward business and IT teams rather than individual AI experimentation. Its use cases span sales, IT, marketing, HR and recruiting, customer experience, and support. Workato also identifies industries including retail and CPG, financial services, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing and logistics, media and technology, construction, and BPO.
AI by Workato is not universally available in every Workato environment. Current documentation states that the connector is available on specific pricing plans and in the US, EU, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Israel, Korea, and UK data centers. It is not available to workspaces in Workato’s China data center. Workato also documents regional processing requirements for AI by Workato.
For businesses already using Workato, the AI capabilities can provide a way to add AI processing to existing recipes and enterprise workflows without creating a separate automation architecture. The combination of AI, integrations, APIs, workflows, and governance makes Workato AI primarily an enterprise automation and orchestration solution rather than a general-purpose consumer AI assistant.
Workato uses a usage-based pricing model. Current pricing combines a platform edition with usage, measured through Workato credits, with optional add-ons available depending on the customer’s plan. The main platform editions include Standard, Business, Enterprise, and Workato One.
Workato also currently offers self-service plans. Workato Free provides a one-time allocation of 50,000 credits at no cost. Workato Pro offers recurring monthly credits, with current options including 2,500 credits for $75/month, 3,500 credits for $100/month, 10,000 credits for $275/month, 30,000 credits for $780/month, and 50,000 credits for $1,275/month. Enterprise pricing is custom.
The free plan includes access to AI/agentic capabilities, workflow orchestration, API management, and integrations, subject to the plan’s credit limits and feature availability.
Workato AI is designed around a practical enterprise requirement: connecting AI to the systems and processes where business work actually happens. Its strongest differentiator is the combination of AI capabilities with a mature integration and automation platform. Instead of keeping AI separate from business applications, organizations can incorporate AI steps into workflows that interact with CRM, ERP, HR, finance, support, data, and productivity systems.
The preconfigured AI by Workato actions also make common tasks easier to implement because users can perform activities such as summarization, classification, translation, parsing, analysis, and email drafting without designing every AI interaction from scratch.
The main consideration is its enterprise orientation. Workato’s platform has a broad feature set and usage-based billing, so organizations need to understand platform editions, credits, usage metrics, and feature availability before estimating total cost. AI by Workato is also subject to specific plan and regional availability requirements.
For enterprises that need AI integrated with existing applications and governed business workflows, Workato AI provides a broad technical foundation. For users seeking a simple standalone AI writing, image, or chatbot application, its enterprise automation focus means the platform may provide considerably more infrastructure than they need.
